Dr O'Mahony is a Forensic Psychologist in independent practice based in London. He accepts instructions from solicitors to write full psychological reports for the criminal courts.
Dr O'Mahony has been a specialist (psychologist) member of the Parole Board for England and Wales since 2016. Prior to that he regularly prepared psychological risk assessment reports and attended Parole Board oral hearings as a witness.
Dr O'Mahony accepts instructions from solicitors to complete psychological assessments and reports for the criminal courts. He completed his training whilst working in a medium secure hospital for adults with learning disabilities and other complex needs such as personality disorder and mental illness. He has worked in an assessment and treatment environment for adults with a history of sex offending, violent offending or fire setting. In addition to risk assessments Dr O'Mahony is trained to administer, interpret and write reports about a variety of other assessments including:
Cognitive assessments (including WAIS IV)
Levels of suggestibility
Anger management
Personality disorder (IPDE)
Malingering
Psychopathy
Dr O'Mahony is a Registered Intermediary at the Ministry of Justice and a HMCTS approved intermediary. He has been awarded the Cardiff University Law School Bond Solon Expert Witness Certificate. He is a former committee member of the Expert Witness Advisory Group of the British Psychological Society.
