Dr O'Mahony has been a Ministry of Justice Registered Intermediary in England & Wales since 2007, assessing the communication needs of vulnerable complainants and witnesses attending police ABE interviews. Following assessment, he writes reports for the police and / or the courts with recommendations on how to adapt communication to facilitate effective participation in the interview and / or at court. Referrals to the Witness Intermediary Service Matching Team must be made directly to the National Crime Agency by the End User.

Commencing in April 2022, Dr O'Mahony is one of the approved service providers for HMCTS in the jurisdictions of Crime, Family, Civil and Tribunals. He only accepts cases in Central / Northeast London and Essex.
He accepts referrals for cases where communication difficulties have been identified in those attending court or a tribunal, who have a diagnosis of personality disorder and / or mental disorder, for example:
